blandwagon started with one sentence:
“Your portfolio is good, but it feels a bit... bland,” said during a job interview.
Zubair (one of the two brains behind blandwagon) had just graduated. No shortage of internships. Worked on multiple campaigns for brands like Tim Hortons, Jazz, and the U.S. Department of State, the kind of work that should speak for itself. But the moment that company found out he was a recent grad, the tone shifted. It wasn’t about potential anymore. it was about that missing one year of experience, as if talent had an age requirement.
That word bland stuck. Not as an insult, but as a reframe. If bland means honest instead of overhyped, different instead of loud, and grounded instead of gimmicky, then it’s the perfect word to own. It’s the kind of quiet confidence that doesn’t need to scream to be heard.
Concept Behind Wagon
And wagon? That came a bit later, when Zubair along with Danish (the other half of blandwagon) started approaching businesses for collaborations. One client, in particular, raised an eyebrow and said, “You can’t drive every kind of brand,” and they were like, “Sure we can.”
So yes, Wagon. Strong enough to drive brands of all kind. We work with 50 day old startups and 150 year old giants, because good marketing isn’t about size, age, or being the trendiest name on the block.
